The SSC CGL exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit eligible candidates for various Group B and Group C posts in different Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations of the Government of India. The exam is conducted in four tiers, with the Tier-1 exam being the first stage of the selection process. The Tier-1 exam is a computer-based exam that consists of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. The exam is of 200 marks, and candidates are allowed 60 minutes to complete it. The exam is conducted annually, and the notification for the exam is usually released in the month of September.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for recruitment to various subordinate services like:
SSC CGL Exam Date 2023 has been announced along with SSC Calendar 2023. SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 Exam is scheduled from 14th July to 27th July 2023. As per the official calendar, the online registration process has been started from 03rd April 2023 onwards.
The English Comprehension section of the SSC CGL Exam is designed to test a candidate's understanding of the English language. This section consists of questions based on Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Sentence Correction, Error Spotting, Para Jumbles, Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, and One-word Substitutions.
The Reading Comprehension passage in this section typically contains 5-6 questions based on it. The passage can be from any subject area and is designed to assess the candidate's ability to comprehend the given text.
In the Cloze Test, candidates are given a passage with certain blanks, and they have to choose the best fit word from the given options.
Sentence Correction and Error Spotting are designed to assess the candidate's grammatical skills and understanding of English grammar. In Para Jumbles, a jumbled paragraph is given, and candidates have to rearrange the sentences to make a coherent paragraph.
To excel in this section, candidates need to have a good understanding of basic English grammar and vocabulary. Regular reading of newspapers, English literature, and other reading materials can help improve language skills.
